My wife would like us to redecorate our living room, this is all OK with me as it’s starting to look a bit shabby after 5 years of abuse from our kids. The real bite is that she wants me to reduce my book collection, considerably.
Given that the majority of the books I’ve bought are Science Fiction, and complete series at that, where can I possibly expect to start? These books feel like a tangible part of my persona, choosing which to keep and which to discard will for all intents and purposes feel like editing out parts of my own psyche.
So perhaps I’m being a little over sensitive, but where would you start given the same predicament?
Build bookshelves in some other part of the house! =)
I’ve seen some wacky designs online… though the may not get wife approval.

Another one I saw was building a bookshelf along the sides of exposed joists in basements… though I don’t know what kind of place you live in or how houses are built in the UK.
I think the harder part is finding something that is “wife” approved. =P

I think maybe I do need to get rid of some - I’ll be thining out the paperbacks, specifically any I can’t remember the storyline to
I’m going to bring my ‘book list’ back to life too, basically a list of all the books I’ve ever read (that I can remember) in order that I don’t mistakenly buy a book I’ve already read - it’s happened on a number of occasions already.

I know what you’re talking about, Ben.
I have been plannig to rearange my study for several years (!) now, but I can’t decide which book to give away… So, obviously, I’m no big help.
